Joe's Boats, houseboats rentals in baltimore maryland

Frequently Asked Questions

Can we, or a captain, take the boat out on the water?
No, the Aries does not have an operating engine and is literally a floating condo. (Fishing from the Aries is also not permitted, since you are going to be staying in the marina.)

Will it be warm enough to stay in the winter?
Yes! There is a thermostat for heat and air conditioning for you to set the temperature to your personal liking.  Houseboats are designed to be lived in year round, and are just as comfortable in the winter as they are in the summer.  In fact, staying on the boat in the snow is pretty awesome!

Do you allow pets?

Yes, our houseboats are small dog friendly.  Dogs are welcome without an additional fee, but we do request that you let us know if you're bringing your furry friend.  It is recommend that dogs be under 50 pounds, mainly because of the available space and the fact that you may need to carry your pet on and off the boat.  Please do not bring any unfriendly dogs, and remember that your pets must be leashed at all times when on the dock.  Also, please don't let toys get thrown overboard.

What are the check-in/check-out times?
Check in is between 3pm and 7pm, and check out is 11am.  You will have a member of the Joe's Boats team meet you to get you on board and provide you with the keycard to access parking and marinas.  Please respect the check in times so that our staff is able to meet you promptly when you arrive!

Does the boat rock a lot?
As a flat bottom pontoon boat, there is not the heavy amount of rocking you may expect.  Based on weather conditions and waterway traffic there may be slight rocking, but typically it's unnoticeable. We personally love the feeling of being rocked to sleep at night!

Is parking included?
Yes! We provide free parking for ONE vehicle in the marina parking lot.  You can also pay for parking in the same lot, which ranges from $6/hour to $24/day.  Limited parking in the area is available on the street and nearby garages, but be sure to read signage for restricted parking; we don't want you getting towed!  One additional parking spot can be purchased in a nearby garage for $50 through Joe's Boats.

How many guests are allowed on board?
Overnight guests are limited to the number on your reservation, and there are to be no more people than beds.  We ask that you refrain from inviting additional guests on board or into the marina - as a guest with Joe's Boats you are also a neighbor to the rest of the marina.  Friendly gatherings are great, loud parties are not respectful.

What are the cancellation policies?
There is a 50% deposit due when your book your reservation and the remainder is due one week before your check-in.  The deposit is non-refundable, but can be applied to another booking within the next six months if you must reschedule.  The re-booked dates must be scheduled within 3 weeks after the original rental dates.

Is it safe here in Baltimore?
Joe's Boats is located in a safe marina area, located in a quaint, tourist area of the city.  All of the docks have key-carded entrances and are monitored by the marina center. The boat can be (and should be) secured while you are away or sleeping.
